Please pre-register for classes as early as possible to avoid disappointment.  Registrations will be accepted until September 1, 2009 as long as space is available, but many of the classes are expected to be fully booked before the show.

TITLE:     SUNFLOWER GOURD                STUDENTS:     20                COST OF CLASS: $70        

                            

TAUGHT BY:  Judy Richie

DESCRIPTION OF CLASS: Learn the basics of creating layers with Relief  Carving.  You may use the patterns that I bring or create your own Sunflower Design.   There will be moonstones (for the dew drops)  and heishe provided, along with instructions on how to inlay them.

THE INSTRUCTOR WILL FURNISH: Gourd and other supplies are included in the fee.

THE STUDENT SHOULD BRING: Student will need to bring a rotary carving tool, such as a Dremel, along with burrs that you have  Also, a dust mask is required. Wear something old that will cover your clothing to keep the dust off as much as possible.  I’ll have a few mini jigsaws, but you may want to bring one.  I will have some burrs and dust masks that you may purchase.

Beginning Power Carving                    Students:  20                    COST OF CLASS:  $45

Description of Class:  This class is perfect for those who want to learn how to get more out of a Dremel or other rotary carver. In this class, you'll learn about using your power rotary tool to carve sand ripples, basic relief carving, and carving for inlay.  Carving safety and types of equipment will be discussed.  


Bring a power rotary tool (Dremel or other brand) and any accessories you have on hand. Bring a gourd suitable for carving and your basic tool box. A mini jig saw may be helpful but is not necessary.   Bring a dust mask or purchase one at class.

TITLE: Advanced Power Carving Seminar                    COST OF CLASS: $70

DESCRIPTION OF CLASS:  

This full day workshop is designed for those that have taken a carving class in the past, or feel comfortable with their power carving tools and basic techniques.  You'll learn about designing, understanding dimensions as used in 3-D carving, and carving in high relief with cutouts.  
 
Bring a power rotary tool (Dremel or other brand) and any accessories you have on hand.  Bring your basic tool box and a mini jig saw if you have one.  Bring a dust mask or purchase one at class.   A thick gourd cut and cleaned for a bowl similar to the pictures will be provided for the class.
