GOURD DOLL NECKLACE
Instructor: Judy Roberts
Description: The small gourd will be finished with leather cream and buffed to a sheen. The face cab will be finished with pearl-X for a unique look. A simple knotless netting technique using waxed linen will be taught for the "doll body". At the bottom of the body, a beaded tassel will be attached. Wire and beads will be used for the arms with small hand charms attached for a distinguished flair. The necklace will be sprayed at this point to protect the finish on the face. Yarn hair and satin cording will be attached to the inserted eye-pin at the top. A handout with directions and picture will be given to each student. the handout will include websites to order additional hand charms.

GEOMETRIC TRIANGLE WOVEN BORDER

Description: Embellishing a gourd bowl with leather. We will be staining or painting a cleaned gourd bowl then drilling and lashing a border. We will develop a geometric triangular pattern and design the gourd rim. Leather and beads will complete the design.

MINATURE MASK SHADOW BOX

Description: Students will create a miniature mask from a small jewelry gourd, using acrylics, inks, gold leafing. Quikwood and embellishments. students will flock their 4" x 5" shadow box.

Gourd Potpourri Holder with a Tenerife Lid

Description: Learn Teneriffe needle weaving on a wire ring and make a lid from your creation with pine needle coiling to attach to a small gourd. Finish off the gourd with pine needles to hold the lid. While you may not get finished with this project in class you will leave with all the skills needed for both needle weaving and shaping pine needle coils.
The Instructor will provide all materials for this class, including: a small drilled gourd, long leaf pine needles and stitching materials, detailed instructions and metal rings for the lids.

PYROGRAPHY - WESTERN LEATHER TOOLING DESIGN- 8 SPACES LEFT AS OF 1/7/10

Description: Detail instructions how to pyrography a western leather tooling design on a gourd. Learn how to countersink a rivet in the flower, add shading at main locations, and use waterbased leather dye to add highlights and depth. ALL students receive a detail instructional booklet with photos and patterns for future reference. Instructions will also be given on how to design your own while students are working.
Supplies: Desire to have lots of fun. "Woodburner equipment with favorite shading and line pens. NOTE: I do all my leather tooling burning with one pen. It's a Medium Spoon Shader by Razortip that is attached to my Optima 1 Dual burner by an adapter."

Workshop Description: Learn
how to successfully make a crocheted beaded rim for your gourds. Students will
enjoy picking out their materials and designing and constructing their crocheted
beaded rim. Students will learn about bead types, and crochet stitches, and
beading threads and how they all play an important part in creating beaded
crochets rims. All supplies will be included.

Description: Students will take an ordinary canteen gourd and turn it into a decorative clock. You will wood burn a design using a ball and a writing tip. The rim will be woven using paper twist and waxed linen. A fun filled class for all. Instructor will supply gourd, paper twist, needle, waxed linen, handouts, pattern, instructions and picture. Clock kit is not included.
