PYROGRAPHY - WESTERN LEATHER TOOLING DESIGN

Description: Detail instructions how to pyrography a western leather tooling design on a gourd.  Learn how to countersink a rivet in the flower, add shading at main locations, and use waterbased leather dye to add highlights and depth.  ALL students receive a detail instructional booklet with photos and patterns for future reference.  Instructions will also be given on how to design your own while students are working.  

Supplies:  Desire to have lots of fun.  "Woodburner equipment with favorite shading and line pens.  NOTE:  I do all my leather tooling burning with one pen.  It's a Medium Spoon Shader by Razortip that is attached to my Optima 1 Dual burner by an adapter."

VINE COVERED BIRDHOUSE

Description: Birdhouse, learn to decoupage botanicals to gourd surface; choice of surface color paint between 6-8 colors.

CARVING A PATTERNED GOURD

Instructor: Fonda Haddad       Level: ALL           Students: 12     Fee: $45 MEMBERS      $50 NON MEMBERS

 

Description: The simplicity of intricate patterns.  We will take a pre-stained gourd and carve patterns that can represent African designs, lace and filigree or nature.  We will be using dremel type tools to engrave designs on a whole gourd, then seal with fixative.   

Supplies:  Students must bring carving tool (dremel, Optima, Ultima with engraving bits)- instructor will supply everything else.

SAFARI

Instructor: Charlotte Durrence       Level: ALL           Students: 15     Fee: $35 MEMBERS      $40 NON MEMBERS

 

Description: In this class you will basecoat your gourd, add spray paint borders, and paint a design in silhouette.  then you will add a rim of dyed pine needles.     

Supplies:  A happy face ....  Please bring paint brushes if you have some.  I will have some to share.  Also bring scissors, pencil, paper towels and a water container.

FAUX FINISHING TECHNIQUES

Instructor: Sherry Briscoe       Level: ALL           Students: 15     Fee: $40 MEMBERS      $45 NON MEMBERS

 

Description: Students will learn how to paint four(4) faux finishes:  Wood Grain, Leather, Turquoise and Marble/Granite.     

Supplies:  Apron or smock to protect clothing.  Teacher will provide all other supplies including:  brushes, water basins, paints, instruction packets, paper towels, palettes, plastic wrap, sea sponges, etc.

free Form Beaded Gourd Eggs

Workshop Description:  Learn how to successfully make a Free Form Beaded Gourd Egg. Students will enjoy picking out their materials, designing and constructing their free form beaded gourd egg. Students will learn about bead types, and tools that make beading on gourds a joy.  Having the right tools are an important part in creating free form beaded gourd eggs. Students will learn important and time saving tips and tricks of this art form.

Supplies students must bring:  Ott Light and good magnifying glasses if you desire or need them for close up work,

** Special note some artist have certain colors that appeal to them. If you are one of those artist, feel free to bring your number 11 seed beads with you. I will be supplying the beads but sometimes the colors I have, are not the colors that may appeal to you.
