INDUSTRIAL METAL PAINT AND VARIOUS PATINAS

Description: Use industrial strength metal bronze patina and add various patinas to develop a very unique piece.  Every piece will be different when finished.  This isn't a faux patina style finish, but the real thing!  Student will also use copper metal paint and a wax patina for accents.  There are many ways to use these products to get endless results.  All students receive a detail instructional booklet with photos for future reference.  Rim with antler will not be done in this class.

Students MUST bring: - Desire to have lots of fun and hair dryer or hot air gun.

MAD WEAVE RIM

Description: Weaving a border rim can be many things.  We will be staining or finishing a cut gourd bowl, drilling holes for woven border and weaving - madly.  Not your common weaving but crazy and fun.  We will be using many materials and textures to create an eclectic finished rim.   

Students MUST bring: - Would be helpful to have  some dremel or drill tools, also need very small embroidery hook, tapestry needle, scraps of fibers.

ALL CRACKED UP + COILED

Description: Students will learn how to apply crackle medium to obtain an old, weathered appearance; a basic coilking technique, proper use and care of brushes, and simple stroke work.   

Supplies to bring: - Apron or smock to protect clothing.  Teacher will provide all supplies including:  base-coated gourd bowls, paper twist, waxed linen (various colors), large-eyed needles, brushes, water basins, acrylic paints, sealer, crackle medium, instruction packets, paper towels, palettes, freezer paper, hair dryers.

POLISHED AND GUILDED GOURD WITH FALSE BOTTOM

Description: Cut, fit and glue a false bottom for stability.  Prepare your gourd to accept ink dyes evenly, create a satin smooth finish, apply metal leafing, protect with a soft natural finish.  

Students MUST bring: - heat tool or hair dryer, wood burning tool small jig saw (I will have some extra tools for class use, but bringing your own tools helps keep the class moving).

SLOW GOURDIN' TURTLE

Instructor: Terry & Sandy Jordan       Level: ALL         Students: 15     Fee: $35 MEMBERS     $40 NON MEMBERS

 

Description: Participants will create a turtle from Quikwood and a cannonball gourd.  the participants will then paint the turtle using acrylic paint.    

Students MUST bring: - Paint brushes #3/4" flat and #2 script liner, water basin, retractable razor utility knife, sharp pencil and a creative sprirt.

POWER CARVED DAISY

Instructor: Laraine Short    Level: All    Students 12    Fee: Members $60.00    Non Members $65.00

Description;  In this class student will learn how to carve a dimensional flower.  We will be using a gourd piece to carve the flower then paint with acrylic paint.  I will supply gourd, handouts, instructions, picture, paint and all painting supplies.

Student must bring: A dust mask or respirator, rotary tool with a 3/8” sanding drum with fine sandpaper,  carving burs and diamond burs.  Or a bur kit will be available to purchase for $19.95.
