SUNDAY MORNING Classes

SU-AM-1 Sunday Morning 9:00AM-2:00PM Location: C1


Washi Framed Gourds

Instructor: Deborah Hildinger

Skill Level: All

Cost: Members: $65.00  Non-Members: $70.00


Description: Learn how to work with cradled frames so that you can hang your gourds on the wall.  Students will collage Japanese washi paper on their provided mini gourds. They will then learn to gold leaf on a gourd stem and mount gourds into the provided frame.


Students Must Bring: Students must bring a rotary carver with ball burrs. Everything else is provided. Don't forget to bring an apron!

Antler Gourd Bowl (handle or base)

Instructor: Fonda Haddad

Skill Level: All

Cost: Members: $55.00  Non-Members: $60.00


Description: Using a pre-cut and cleaned gourd bowl we will stain and embellish with dyes, rim treatment and Antler. The Antler may be used as a handle or as a base ornament.  Antlers will be attached and the gourd bowl finished on outside as well as inside.


Students Must Bring: Instructor will provide everything.

Tweety Bird House

Instructor: Jim Anspach

Skill Level: All

Cost: Members: $35.00  Non-Members: $40.00


Description: Students will receive a prepared gourd piece to weave into a bird house and finish off in a simple but functional way.


Students Must Bring: an apron and an old towel.

SU-AM-4 Sunday Morning 9:00AM-2:00PM Location: C4

Crochet Rim

Instructor: Jane Essig

Skill Level: Intermediate

Cost: Members: $50.00  Non-Members: $55.00


Description: Students will paint a pre-cleaned gourd, drill holes around the top, and crochet a rim on the gourd.


Students Must Bring: Students should bring a #8 (1.5mm) crochet hook,  drill with 3/32" (2mm) bit, scissors, heat gun or blow dryer, gloves, apron, white pencil for marking hole locations, flexible ruler.  If student would like to use their own crochet thread/yarn, they should bring the appropriate size crochet hook and drill bit.  Each hole will have to be large enough for six strands of thread.  Students may bring their own beads and embellishments if desired.

Teacher will provide cleaned gourd, crochet thread, beads, acrylic paints, paint brushes, clear coat spray.  Teacher will have a spare blow dryer, heat gun, and drill with correct size bit to share if needed.

SU-AM-5 Sunday Morning 9:00AM-2:00PM Location: P5


Autumn Leaves

Instructor: Ana Poma

Skill Level: All

Cost: Members: $90.00  Non-Members: $95.00


Description: The student will learn to burn with a torch, then we will design and carve the leaves and give a creative finish to our vase.


Students Must Bring: Dremel or micro pro master carver, different bits, mask and apron.

SU-AM-6 Sunday Morning 9:00AM-2:00PM Location: P1


Laced Gourd Bowl

Instructor: Mona Webb

Skill Level: All

Cost: Members: $30.00  Non-Members: $35.00


Description: Great class for beginners, fun for all. Using a prepared, cut and cleaned gourd bowl, students will learn the technique to mark the gourd and drill the holes using a rotary tool. Then embellish and finish the piece using craft lace.


Students Must Bring: pencil, scissors, awl (if you have one), compass, rotary tool (or I will share mine) with 5/64-inch or 3/32-inch drill bit, apron, mask optional for protection from gourd dust.

SU-AM-7 Sunday Morning 9:00AM-2:00PM Location: TBD

  

Wood Burned Conch Bowl

Instructor: Jeanette Egan

Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Cost: Members: $55.00  Non-Members: $60.00


Description: A cleaned and prepped 6.5" - 7" prepped Gourd Bowl will be provided for this class.  Great Class to take to learn how to create textures and use the petal shading tip and detailing tip that come with a Walnut Hollow Creative Burner or wire tip equivalents. Class length Approx 3 - 3.5 Hr


Instructor will provide all materials.
